With a focus on 15.4” computers in widescreen format, this bag has a sweet like cube-like shape. It is black and has a business look that makes it seem quite professional. It appears to be made of very fine materials and the wheels seem durable and will likely last a while. The long handle means you can easily drag it around with you, and you save having to carry anything on your pack. The interior has space for a good amount of clothes or a printer, as Umates suggests. So, this should be a good friend to have when you are going on a trip.
The materials
Umates prefers nylon for these more durable suitcase-type bags. It is made of Teflon coated nylon which has the advantage of being very easy to clean, and will thus look good for longer. In addition there is something they call an ABS frame protecting all the items within – primarily the laptop – at all times. They do not specify what it is made of, but it seems to be hardened plastic. The wheels are large, secure and – unlike on many other suitcases – seem very sturdy.

The rest of the bag has something like a hard shell, and you really feel your computer is protected inside. The front is covered by some good-looking leathery material, and the overall dark look gives it an aura of quality.
Handle and strap

The handle at the top is made of leather, padded with something soft so it is comfortable to grab. They are secured with some metal rings to stitches directly in the bag. It is quite nice to hold and soft enough that you can actually stand using for a long time.

The body of the handle is made of ABS or hardened plastic. It has three different settings, so there should be a height for everyone. It works well with a button at the top that allow you to raise the handle step by step.
Compartments and functionality
At the front of the bag is a small compartment for magazines, newspaper and other things you need quick access to. After that there is a large pocket that can be opened all the way. This is where you will be storing most of your practical items, with space for pens, passport, notebooks, papers, thin folders and such. There is also a small key ring for keys.

There are hardly oceans of space in this model, but there is enough for the important things and the functionality makes it easy to organise your possessions.
Inside the bag
The first large compartment has room for various papers, but most importantly the computer.
Umates has come up with an ingenious solution that consists of an elastic sheet of nylon and a hard top to close it. When you lift out the top, the computer is dragged out with it and is thus easy to insert and remove. Furthermore, it protects the computer when it glides down so it does not hit the floor, which has gotten Microsoft – among others – to recommend Umates. Impressive.

The other large compartment is where you put your clothes and, according to Umates, a small printer if you are going to a conference or such. It is a perfect bag for a weekend trip, because it has just enough space for the clothes you need and any work-related items. There is also a practical elastic cross that allows you to fasten shirts and the like so they do not get wrinkled.
Conclusion
Umates Top Wheels is an amazing suitcase. In addition to providing excellent quality time and again (such as the durable nylon coated with Teflon), the craftsmanship is excellent! The stitches and zippers last, and the zipper glide down like a bobsleigh team. You simply believe in the bag, and it really seems like luxury quality – that alone is enough for us.
The rooms are functionally separated so you always have easy access to the things you need, and hidden away deep within the bag are the things you take out when you arrive at your destination.
There is plenty of space for clothes for the weekend and work-related items, and it still leaves you with space for a little extra. Of course you need more if you are going on a longer trip, but this caters to the business world and I really see it as more of a weekend than vacation bag.
Regardless of what you use it for, the quality is excellent and Umates live up to their name. There is no need to choose any other bag because you do not know this brand – Umates are proud of their products and that can only bring good things. You get the sense that the bags are designed by people who frequently travel themselves, and so they know what is required in the world of today.
A very sleek product that deserves nothing but praise.
