Yesterday MSI launched an upgrade of the all-in-one PC AE2220, which now gets the "Hi-Fi" suffix. As you might have gathered, the focus here is on audio - according to MSI, it is the first all-in-one PC to be designed specifically to optimise the audial aspect. This is achieved by soem exciting features like speakers with an aluminium-magnesium alloy membrane and Noise-Cancelling technology.
The Hi-Fi sports a couple of 5W speakers that should be able to go up to 82dB. The idea behind the aluminium-magnesium alloys is to improve the inner acoustics; the structure itself is what MSI calls an "Acoustic Suspension System", which should make it possible to play the lower notes in a much higher quality. Most integrated speakers usually have a trouble with the bass.
The system should also provide a surround souund feeling while the Noise-Cancelling technology reduces static noise and such which, along with MSI Premium Sound, should give a much cleaner and clearer sound.
When it comes to hardware, we assume it is unchanged in relation to the AE2220. MSI mentions the same 21.5 inch display (full HD resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, multi-touch), Nvidia's ION platform, HDMI port and the Windows 7 OS. That is really the extent of detail MSI provides.
All in all it might actually make a pretty good multimedia center, but whether the sound can actually live up to MSI's promises is an entirely different story...they are just 5W speakers after all.
