Toshiba logoToshiba Japan has introduced a new notebook by the name of G65 for the Qosmio series. Qosmio is generally aimed at gamers and multimedia afficionados, and G65 is not much of an exception. The new notebook offers hardware in the powerful end of the spectrum and has all the right features for films and music, such as Harman Kardon speakers and a full HD resolution.

The G65 is quite similar to Qosmio X500, and might be viewed as a sort of basis model. In this way it might just be aiming a little more at the multimedia segment (watching some films and listening to music does not have the same hardware requirements as newer games after all, so there is nothing to lose by "downgrading" and saving some money), also because it has a little extra in the form of a TV tuner.

As on Qosmio X500, you find more of the great multimedia features like an 18.4 inch fuld HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, Harman Kardon stereo speakers, Blu-ray drive, HDMI and S/PDIF audio jack-out along with dedicated multimedia touch-buttons.

Qosmio G65 has the following specifications:

- 18.4 inch full HD TFT LCD display
- Intel Core i5-520M dual-core processor (2.4GHz, up to 2.93GHz via Turbo Boost, 3MB L2 cache)
- Up to 8GB of DDR3 1066MHz RAM
- Nvidia GeForece GT330M GPU (1GB)
- 500GB 5400RPM HDD
- Blu-ray drive
- Li-ion battery (lasts up to 3 hours)
- Windows 7 Home Premium (32 or 64 bit)
- 802.11 b/g/draft-N WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet LAN
- HDMI, D-Sub, 4x USB 2.0 (1 USB/eSATA combo), audio jack-in, audio-jack out (S/PDIF), TV tuner, firewire, ExpressCard slot, multi-in-1 card reader
- 5kg

Pretty nice package really, heavy as it is - sadly that is unavoidable in such large and powerful devices. G65 should cost about $2890.

Please note: The pictures are of Qosmio X500, not G65 (however they should look exactly the same)
