Toshiba logo Toshiba have announced a couple of new laptops with a focus on multimedia entertainment and gaming. Satellite A665 andM645 of 15.6 and 14 inches, respectively, offer powerful hardware like an Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor and dedicated Nvidia graphics, plus optional Nvidia 3D Vision kit.

The smaller and "weakest" og the two as it cannot quite be configured with the same hardware as its elder brother. You can still fit it with some pretty sweet components though, such as one of Intel's new Core 2010 processors or a quad-core AMD Phenom II, DDR3 RAM and Nvidia graphics.

Here you can choose between GeForce 310M (512MB) or GT 330M (1GB) - the former is a mainstream card while the other is a bit more suited for serious gaming. Still, do not expect to play the newest titles without compromising on details or FPS.

Both cards come with the Optimus technology, which automatically switches between the graphics card and IGP. Other features include a Blu-ray burner, WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet LAN and WiMAX.

Satellite M645 should be available from June 20th at a starting price of $730.

Satellite A665

Can be configured with meaner hardware: up to a Core i7-740QM processor (quad-core, 1.733Ghz, 6M cache), 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 640GB hard drive (with freefall sensor) and a Nvidia GeForce GTS 350M (1GB) card that belongs in the upper middle class or so. It also features Optimus.

There is also a Blu-ray burner, Nvidia 3D Vision kit, harman/kardon speakers, Windows 7 Home Premium and pretty much all the ports you could wish for, including HDMI and an eSATA/USB combo with Sleep-and-Charge.

Other features include draft-N WiFi, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, Gigabit Ethernet LAN and integrated microphone and webcam with face recognition software.

Satellite A665 should be available from June 20th, starting at $1600.
