Acer logo Acer have introduced three new Aspire One devices - D260, 533 and 753 of 10.1, 10.1 and 11.6 inches, respectively. They offer goodies like the new Intel Atom processors with DDR3 RAM support, Android OS, Bluetooth 3.0 and optional 3G.

Aspire D260

This particular device distinguishes itself by have to operating systems - you get Windows 7 by default, but can also get Android as an additional OS. This is quite handy if you quickly need to access the web for surfing or checking mail, and really any other task that does not require the slower Windows 7.

Aspire D260 is based on an Intel Atom N450 or N455 processor (1.66GHz, 512K cache); the latter supports DDR3 RAm, of which you can get up to 2GB. Otherwise there is a hard drive with a maximum capacity of 250GB, and the standard connectivity plus optional Bluetooth 3.0.

It weighs only 1.25kg wth a 6-celled battery (up to 8 hours per charge) and is 24mm thick.

Aspire 533

A slightly more powerful netbook and perhaps more fitting for travellers as it has optional 3G. The display runs a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution by default, but you can upgrade that to 1280 x 720.

It comes with an Intel Atom N455 or N475 processor (1.83GHz, 512K cache) but otherwise the same hardware as D260. It does get a little extra in the form of an HDMI port and optional 3G though (in addition to Bluetooth 3.0).

Aspire 533 weighs just over 1kg and should last up to 10 hours per charge.

Aspire 753

The largest of the three at 11.6 inches (1366 x 768 pixels) and not what we would usually call a netbook, for it has a ULV processor and better specs. The CPU is a Celeron U3400 CPU (dual-core, 1.06GHz, 2M cache), which comes with up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 640GB hard drive.

In terms of connectivity, it is basically like Aspire 533. Because of the larger size it weighs in a 1.4kg, and thanks to the more powerful hardware, battery life is reduced to 6 hours (which is still quite good in any case).

Pricing and availability have not been divulged, although the devices are "coming soon".
