MSI logo The Computex convention in Taipei is drawing to a close, and we have seen an incredible amount of tablets. MSI were there with their Wind Pad, but they also brought along some interesting netbook concepts.

MSI La Mode is a 10 inch netbooks with a focus on design. The exterior is covered in cloth with a wave-like pattern, and over the lid runs a metal stripe with an LED-lit MSI logo. Judging by the pictures, it is gorgeous, but MSI do describe it as more of an accessory than a netbook.

Serene is also a 10 inch, but here the focus is on heat dissipation. The device features "MSI's thermal technology" and Intel Atom processor, a combination that allows for passive cooling. That makes it both silent and easier on the battery than other netbooks. MSI say the technology will also be used on other laptops in the future.

The final - and arguably most interesting - concept MSI brought along is called Sketchbook. Sketchbook is a 12 inch laptop, and you quickly notice it is unlike other mobile devices.

Rather than have the keyboard at the top and touchpad below, they have been switched around. The touchpad is now in the upper right corner - not in the usual rectangular shape, but a circle, and it looks rather big and comfortable to use.

But the quirkiest features is the keyboard, which can be turned around. On the other side you find a handwriting pad, which is exactly what it sounds like. A fun alternative to the traditional convertible tablet where you have to write on the screen itself. We are not quite sure if it is an advantage, but it is new.

Otherwise MSI mention a "mineral finish" that gives it a natural look, but there is not much more information about the three concepts.
