Today MSI revealed a couple of new notebooks for the F-series, which aims to deliver relatively powerful multimedia laptops with particular focus on audio and to a lesser extent design.
FR600 and FX600 both sport a 15.6 inch display with HD resolution (optional full HD on FX600) and come in a minimalistic yet rather handsome and modern design (judging by the pictures, anyway). As always, MSI point out the scratch-resistant coating.
Both FR600 and FX600 are based on an Intel Core i5 processor (unspecified, so there will probably be several different configurations), and as always that comes with Intel's best integrated HD graphics.
But the FX600 also features a Nvidia GeForce 325M GPU (1GB), a sort of budget card that will probably have trouble running more demanding games at more than low graphical settings. Nvidia's Optimus technology is included (MSI calls it GPU Boost) and automatically switches between the Nvidia card and Intel graphics.
Otherwise the two are much the same with up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 250/320/500/640GB hard drive, Super Multi DVD drive, Windows 7 Home Premium and four THX certified speakers.
Connectivity and ports are standard with draft-N WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, optional Bluetooth, 2x USB, eSATA/USB combo, HDMI, VGA and audio jacks plus 4-in-1 card reader. There is also an integrated webcam, and both devices weigh about 2.4kg.
No word on pricing just yet, and we do not know about a release date either.
