Acer logo Today, one could find several notebooks from the as of yet unofficial TimelineX series on Acer's website. The mistake was eventually discovered and the product sheets are gone now, but the damage has already been done and details of TimelineX 3820T, 4820T and 5820T can be found throughout the web.

All feature LED-backlit displays of 13.3, 14 and 15.6 inches respectively, but besides size they share most characteristics. They are powered by either an Intel Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 processor, and as always that comes with our favourite integrated graphics. If you need more, you can add a 1GB ATi Radeon HD5650 or 512MB HD5470 GPU.

The former is a higher-middleclass card that should be able to handle most newer games on medium or highest settings, while the latter belongs to the lower middleclass and can probably not do much better than medium settings in newer games. Both are DirectX 11 compatible, and you can switch between them and the IGP as needed so as to optimise power consumption (after all, there is no reason for them to drain away the battery if you are just surfing anyway).

Otherwise they supposedly feature up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a relatively wide choice between hard drives where you can get up to 640GB. They are based on the windows 7 Basic or Home Premium OS and come with a 6-celled battery that should last some 8 hours. It should also be possible to upgrade to a larger 8-celled battery on certain models, which should net a battery life of up to 12 hours.

There will also be an integrated Crystal Eye webcam, 802.11 b/g/draft-N WiFi, gigabit Ethernet LAN as well as optional Bluetooth v2.1 plus 3G. At the moment it is uncertain when they will see the light of day, though rumours say next week.
