Given the outrageous success Apple have had with their iPad, it is little wonder many companies are trying to achieve the same. The latest contender is a German E-Noa, currently working on their alternative to the fruity pad.
E-Noa have called their tablet Interpad, a small device that measures 253 x 164 x 12.5 mm, weigh around 680g and has a 10 inch display (multi-touch, of course). As so many other new or upcoming tablets, it comes with Google's Android OS.
There are two versions to choose from; the basic model gets version 2.1 while a high-end model will get the new 2.2. This high-end model also has a couple of extra features that the basic model lacks, namely webcam, GPS and 3G.
Both are based on Nvidia's Tegra 2 platform, which integrates a 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-AP9 MPCore processor with memory controller and graphics processor. That allows it to play back HD video and handle 3D graphics and Flash acceleration.
Tegra 2 is designed to have a low power consumption, and thus the Interpad can go for 8-12 hours on its 3900mAh battery. Otherwise there is 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 16GB of storage (can be expanded with up to 32GB via microSD card), WiFi and Bluetooth v2.1.
As is usually the case with tablets, ports are few and far between. You do get USB, HDMI, an audio jack-out and the aforementioned microSD card slot though.
Interpad should see a December launch, where the price of the basic model will supposedly land at €399. The high-end model will obviously cost a bit more, but they still expect to ship it for less than €500.
