Fujitsu logo Today Fujitsu unveiled a sassy little handheld PC, the LifeBook UH900. At only 500g and with a 5.6 inch display it is mobile incarnate, and with plenty of wireless connectivity options almost guaranteed to have internet wherever you go. Fujitsu promises that it is not gimped compared to other computers - maybe not in terms of specs, but it probably takes some getting used to the microscopic keyboard.

The LifeBook UH900 does remind one quite a bit of Sony's VAIO P, although that is larger at 8 inches. Both are based on an Intel Atom Z530 processor (1.6GHz, 512Kb L2 cache) and sport SSD storage which weighs less and uses less power than a standard hard drive. However, it costs a bit more as well, but at this stage we do not know how it will affect the LifeBook UH900 (the Sony VAIO P was never cheap, though).

One of the best features of the LifeBook UH900 is the display. It sports multi-touch capabilities (for now it supports input from one or two fingers, as well as the stylus), WXGA resolution so it can display most websites without forcing you to side-scroll and best of all, perhaps, it is anti-glare so you can use it as more than just a mirror when you are outside.

Fujitsu do not say much about the hardware, other than the processor and the nice 62GB SSD. It should sport both WiFi, Bluetooth and optional 3.5G, along with integrated webcam and microphone. The battery should last up to three hours if you use one of the powersaving profiles, which is okay.

There is no touchpad but instead what looks like a sort of trackpoint that Fujitsu says can be controlled with the thumb. Other than that it features a number of touch-buttons which can be used to toggle through the different power profiles, change resolution, and some of the can be individually programmed. The LifeBook UH900 is less than an inch thick and has dimensions of 20.4 x 10.65cm.

As mentioned already, pricing and availability are currently unknown.
