Today Dell treated their Streak device - a cross between a smartphone and tablet - to an official introduction and revealed it will be available in the UK from the start of June with O2, with wider European availability to follow.
Streak has a 5 inch display that runs a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels - with multi-touch, of course. It runs the Google Android OS (version 1.6 to start with - 2.2 is expected out later this year and will, among other things, support Adobe Flash 10.1) and has full access to the Android Market and all the associated apps.
Remaining specs are pretty much what you would expect from a smartphone, so Streak is probably an overgrown one. It has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2GB of integrated storage (can be expanded by 32GB via an SDHC card).
Otherwise it has a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, as well as an extra front-facing VGA camera above the display for video conferences and the like (although this function is not yet available).
Connectivity includes - in addition to the obvious ability to make phone calls - 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth v2.1, 3G and GPS for Google Maps navigation.
Dell have not revealed an exact launch date, and price is also unknown at this time.
