Asus appear to have introduced two new "Bamboo" notebooks with lid and wrist rest areas in bamboo. U43JC and U43F both measure 14 inches and are aimed at the standard user who wants to enjoy a bit of casual gaming now and then.
Both are powered by an Intel Core i5-450M processor (dual-core, 2.26GHz or 2.4GHz via Turbo Boost, 3M cache) and feature 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a rather large 640GB hard drive, DVD drive and the Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) OS.
The difference between the two is in the graphics department; both of course get Intel HD graphics (integrated), but U43JC also comes with a GeForce 310M GPU from Nvidia (1GB), an entry-level card that is not exactly made for hardcore gaming.
U43JC does not need to sacrifice battery life, though, for it comes with Nvidia's Optimus technology that automatically switches between the card and integrated grahpics processors. That allows both models to go for up to 5 hours and 10 minutes without an external power source. Nothing special, but decent nonetheless.
Otherwise they get draft-N WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, HDMI, 3x USB 2.0, VGA, multi-in-1 card reader and an integrated webcam. There are few more details at this point - it appears the models are not all that official just yet.
Asus U41JC will reported cost $999.99 while U41F should start at $949.99, but again this is not official.
