Although we first saw the Asus Eee PC 1001PQ at CeBit in Hannover back in March, it took almost four months before it became available in Europe. There is not much new in terms of hardware, but it does stand out with its design and kid-friendly software.
Rather than the standard black/white/red/etc nuance or colour that tends to dominate the Eee PC series, 1001PQ comes in a sexy golden or the more daring purple flame design. You also get stickers in case you want to personalise it a bit more, although it still comes in the familiar Seashell shape.
In terms of software there is a specially designed desktop called Inspirus, which aims to make it easier to kids to get browsing and playing games. It is also filled with widgets that should povide plenty of entertainment for the little ones. There is also a browser with built-in parentcal control such that you can choose which sites your child may (not) visit.
Eee PC 1001PQ has the following specifications:
