ASUS logo The ASUS Eee PC 1101HA is now officially launched, having already been shown off at Computex in Taiwan at the start of June. The 1101HA - the first 11.6 inch model in the Eee series - shares the characteristic Seashell design with the smaller models in the series, like the Eee 1008HA and 1005HA.

In terms of appearance, it mostly looks the same except for the larger 11.6 inch display (LED-backlit, WXGA resolution 1366x768), while the smaller models sport only 10.1 inch display (resolution of 1024x600). This larger size has also allowed for a full-size keyboard...just don't expect a numpad. As the models it comes with a touchpad with multitouch functions (for example zoom and scroll).

When it comes to hardware, the only change worth mentioning is the processor; while the 1008HA and 1005HA are based on the Intel Atom N270/N280 processors (1.6GHz/1.66GHz), the 1101HA is powered by an Atom Z520 processor (1.33GHz). It is a small downgrade when it comes to performance, but the Z520 processor has a TDP (thermal design power - the maximum amount of energy the cooling system must dissipate) which is 20% lower than those of the N270/N280, which may result in a longer battery life.

The rest has all been seen before: 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD, 10GB Eee online storage, Intel GMA 500 integrated graphics, a 6-celled battery and the Windows XP operating system. Connectivity includes WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR and 10/100 Mbps LAN. Inputs/outputs amount to 1x VGA, 3x USB, media card reader (SD/SDHC/MMC), as well as the mandatory audio jacks. The 1101HA also sports two built-in speakers, as well as a microphone and webcam.

The Eee PC 1101HA will be available in Europe at the end of June at a price starting at €399. ASUS did bring a model with integrated 3G to Computex, but when that will be released is as of yet unknown. It's kind of a shame, for the 1101HA does not really have any special features or anything else that truly distinguishes it from the large amount of netbooks already on the market.
