MSI have added another laptop to their Gaming series, this time the GX660(R) at 15.6 inches. According to MSI's marketing team, this baby is "destined to cause serious salivation among gamers", with hardware such as a DirectX 11 graphics card from ATi.
This is none other than the Mobility Radeon HD 5870, probably the second-best GPU you can get for a laptop these days, only beaten by NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 480M based on the recent Fermi architecture. That spells happy gaming and allows you to enjoy all the newest titles on the display (LED-backlit) with HD or full HD resolution.
MSI GX600(R) has the following specifications:
- 15.6" display, LED-backlit, HD/full HD resolution
- Intel Core i7 processor
- ATi Mobility Radeon HD 5870 (1GB GDDR5 RAM) GPU
- Up to 12GB of DDR3 1066/1333MHz RAM
- 2x 500GB hard drives (RAID 0)
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
- Draft-N WiFi, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, Ethernet LAN
- HDMI, VGA, 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, eSATA, 4-in-1 card reader, audio jacks
You almost could not ask for more; it really is great they implemented the newer USB 3.0 standard, and the device has all the hardware you could wish for.
There is also an HD webcam, of course, along with with 2 speakers and subwoofer that have been developed in collaboration with Dynaudio. Apparently they spent over 1200 hours tweaking and optimising the sound, so it should be better than average at least.
Other features include Cooler Boost - the push of a button makes the cooling system go nuts, allowing the device to stay "cool as a cucumber" even when running at full performance. There are also a plethora of LED-lights on the chassis which can be made to pulsate to the music you are listening to.
No word on pricing or availability at this time.
