Application and Hardware compatibility

In many ways, one might feel that Apple jumped the gun on this one. When Snow Leopard was released, many day-to-day applications did not work 100 percent. For example, there were numerous problems with the Adobe package CS3 which many use for graphical and creative work. Furthermore, the free applications like Xmarks had problems with Safari and simply did not work anymore. There are many also smaller applications originally designed for Windows that consumers use, and it will take some time before those are updated and compatible with the new OS.

So you might say that Snow Leopard has left behind a lot of applications, but I have no doubt Apple will solve all of these problems, and have already done so at the time of writing. Of course the issue remains until they are all fixed, because it is no fun buying a product that brings more problems than solutions.

Windows 7 has learnt the lessons of Vista and seems to work with more or less all applications. You might say that where Snow Leopard is running into problems now, Microsoft had issues with Vista the first time around, so this is sort of their second shot from the hip.

Nonetheless, they seem to have it under control right off the bat here. Still, do not worry about throwing yourself at the mercy of the Snow Leopard.

When it comes to hardware, it is incredibly hard if not impossible to compare the two directly. However, we can compare the compatibility of Snow Leopard with Macs and Windows 7 with older PCs.

Snow Leopard requires Intel-based hardware. In layman’s terms, this means it does not run PowerPC G4 and G5, so you may have trouble with an Apple built before 2006. The different lines have since been converted to Intel-based hardware, so you cannot be sure whether it works. Thus a Mac no more than three years old should be relatively safe. Furthermore, Snow Leopard requires 5GB of available storage and 1GB of RAM.

Windows 7 is made to run on any machine that can run Vista. However, it is also made to run on Windows XP devices. This makes it slightly more complicated. More specifically, Windows 7 requires 2GB of RAM for 64-bit and 1GB of RAM for 32-bit editions, as well as 20GB and 16GB of storage respectively. To run the Aero interface, the GPU must be DirectX 9 compatible and have 128MB of memory. So, Windows 7 can theoretically run on much older devices than Snow Leopard.

My dog was attacked by a pitbull mix last nite, who tied to a pole outside his hse on a 20 ft rope, unsupervised. My dog is a chihuahua and is very lucky tto be alive . He is going to be all right! We were on our way home from the park--my dog was on a short leash. the owners paid the vet bill and said the dog had never done anything like that before. They said he plays with the chihuahua across the street all the time. I hope they don´t leave him out like that any more. They said they just moved there. I plan on walking by (without my dog) to see if the situation has changed. they seem genuinely sorry, but I hope it doesn´t happen to some other unsuspecting dog. Why would this happen? Maybe new environment, or maybe being tied like that makes the dog feel vunerable? They also said their dog likes chase cats but has never hurt one---maybe he smelled my cat on my dog? They don´t seem like the type of people who would try to make a dog aggressive. They have a catahoula hound dog too and they have had not any problems between them. I would like any comments and discussion about this as this has upset me very badly!

Im exhausted trying to do this on my own. I need other moms to talk to. Everyday is a struggle for me. I havent seen my two younger babies since dec 3rd. and have only been allowed to talk to them 1 time in jan. I don't even know if there ok.

This is my story, i fell in love with a marine. shortly after I found out we were expecting. Little did I know that this man I was having children with was a con man. He was unfaithful from the beginning but I didn't want to believe it. After our 2nd child together things really began to change he got worse when it came to other females. Began treating our daughter like a step child and focused on our son.
In Nov 2009 he got military orders to Cherry pt, NC. I was relieved. I thought for the 1st time I can emotionally get back on my feet and face the demon he was. Little did I know that once he left he was gonna completely forget about me and our children. Left me with no water months upon months and power. giving me 160 dollars a month to feed 3 children. The stresses of this finally had gotten to me. After a 6 month battle with his command with no help I thought to myself maybe my kids were better off without me, seeing I couldn't provide for them in the way they deserved. I brought my children next door and went back home and took a knife to my wrist, as I slid it across my childrens faces rushed before me, the goofy times we had I relived in a sec. I regretted what I had done. But this was the ticket that allowed him to remove the children from my care. I was admitted into a 72 psych hold but quickly released that day told I DID NOT belong there. I returned home and my kids were with my neighbor whom had contacted my husband and of course he quickly came to Ca to get them. I couldn't even tell them good bye.
Ive spoke to law enforcement, lawyers what he did was legal. The police said my house was not safe for them because I had no water or power for them, which apparently was MY fault. His command refuses to get involved told me that the state of Ca took my rights from me, and they have this form. However I never received this form. In fact I was told that I could see them and talk to them, but once they were in their fathers care it would have to go to family law. Which I don't have the money for the "retainer" and money is so tight for everyone its hard to find one who will help for free.
And as the time goes by, he isnt allowing my children to speak to their own sister, or anyone from my family. He has completely removed me from their lives. My oldest daughter talked to them April 5th and my two little ones think I don't want them and dont love them. ( which breaks my heart ) what kind of heartless monster tells an innocent child that?
So at this point, I don't know what to do. I know that this past mother's day was the 1st mothers day in 10 yrs I was utterly alone. I don't know what to do, im literally fighting the devil.... any advice would be great. Thanks for reading this....

The reason I don't have my oldest is because my 1st husband served me custody papers with the wrong date on it, and I was out of state for the holidays and couldn't afford to go back to ca for the court date so he of course won by default.

Was I not meant to be a mom??

I myself was an abused wife. My husband at the time would hit me and tell me if I had not made him mad it would not have happened. He broke my ribs,bruised me, locked me in closets, put me down in front of others, called me names and told me no one else would want me because I was worth nothing. He refused to let me cook, clean or do anything. Be cause he said I was not smart enough. This also happened in front of my sons. The beatings got worse so I had to leave. Now my life is better. I am going to collage and in a good relationship. My advice to you is to leave and get help repairing your self esteem. I can tell you from experience that it takes a long time but in the end it is worth it. You are worth more than letting a man beat you. If you stay it will never get any better no matter what he promises you. It is not your fault for what he is doing. I always thought it was my fault but learned through therapy it was not. He needs help for his problem. Unless he helps himself you cannot help him. I know it is painful to think of a life on your own but it gets better. The love of friends and family can help you. I'm currently 14(nearly) and have been constantly bullied for nearly 2 years. It all started when I went to secondary school. The first month or so were ok, I had my best friend, made a couple of new friends everything was going fine, until a group of boys in my year group started to pick on me because I had braces and talked with a lisp, they made fun of my voice, shouted abuse at me whenever I tried to respond and threw food and hard sweets at me(which left me a painful lump on my head). I'm generally a shy person and don't talk much, but my best friends(or former best friends) are really confident, outgoing and aren't afraid to speak their mind, so they started to become popular and make other friends who automatically didn't like me and thought I was a shy wierdo and gradually more and more people started to judge me as a freak and dislike me. My parents are from a different country so my name isn't a common one, and that has been one of the major targets when people pick on me. I am SICK of people walking past me, or sitting next to me, saying my name in a wierd/funny voice and talking to me as if I was a 5 year old!!!!!!!! When I had an account on MSN, people from school used to post abuse too(cyberbullying). People have also called me fat and ugly because i have large hips and thighs. I started to self harm myself last year, slitting my wrists with sewing scissors and deliberately sticking a toothbrush down my throat and throwing up out of depression and not wanting to go to school. I even have problems with some older people, saying they knew me from when I was like 7 years old at primary school and they make fun of me(as usual). When I accidentally left my school planner in a classroom, I went to get it back at reception and found it broken, ruined and graffitied with the most threatening insults, such as "dirty fat slut, go back to your own country" By the start of this school year, the bullying had started again(even though my head of year last year had spoken to some of the pupils who were bothering me) and has gotten worse throughout the year. I now have no friends(the only ones I had have now become popular and ditched me) am still getting lots of bullying and abuse and one of my former friends has now started to turn particularly nasty. My parents have spoken to my current head of year, tutor and as many teachers as possible, but nothings changed and the bullies still continue. in short: almost the whole year group and possibly many other students hate my guts and think I'm just a quiet geek who likes classical music and studying and I'm strongly hurt by this because I'm NOT any of those things, just because i'm good at schoolwork doesn't make me a geek, classical music annoys the crap out of me and I can be loud and talkative when I want to, but if i try that in school people just roll their eyes at me, look at me wierdly or whisper abuse. I tried to be friends with these girls who I thought were nice to me, but every time I try to sit with them, talk or hand around with them, they run away as if they think I'm stalking them when i'm just trying to be friends. So at break or luchtime, I just wander round the school alone sick, and sad. I REALLY BADLY wanna get homeschooled but my parents won't let me :(. Is there a way I could easily get taught at home and still do all my G.C.S.E's in future because I am sick of getting uncontrollably abused at school(not just one person but many people targeting me) and I don't want to ruin my education, so I really want to find out if it's possible to be taught at home by someone, and if possible, what's the best option.
